3 Men Burglarized Southbury Home, Captured After Crashing Vehicle: State Police

State Police said the men tried to flee on foot once they crashed their vehicle.

SOUTHBURY, CT — Three men have been arrested for allegedly committing a burglary at a residence in Southbury Tuesday and the suspects ended up crashing their vehicle while leaving the scene and tried to flee on foot, State Police said. Southbury Police responded to a report of a burglary on High Ridge Road around 2 p.m. Tuesday.

A dark colored 4-door Mazda was seen leaving the residence. Police officers Critelli and Flynn spotted a vehicle matching the description southbound on Route 172 and began following the vehicle which was headed to where other Southbury Police as well as State Police officers were waiting, State Police said.

The suspect vehicle accelerated to a very high rate of speed in an attempt to elude officers, State Police said. When the suspects attempted to turn right onto I-84 westbound entrance ramp, the driver lost control and struck a guard rail, State Police said.

The suspects jumped from the vehicle and tried to flee on foot, State Police said. The three men were quickly apprehended. The car the men were driving was reported stolen out of Watertown and the items stolen from the Southbury victim were found inside the stolen car, State Police said.

Arrested were: Deion G. Wilson, 21, of Waterbury, Steve Sanchez-Rodriguez, 19, of New York, and Marcos A. Ruiz, 20, of Waterbury. All three were charged with third-degree larceny and burglary and given a $50,000 bond.
