Health & Fitness

A new season, a new beginning.

As we enter a new season, summer, it feels like a new beginning.  An opportunity to rekindle relationships.  To look at how we are with others and with ourselves.

Building relationships that are respectful of each other and of yourself is what Positive Discipline is all about.  When we empower our children to make decisions and take responsibility and learn from the consequences, we are helping to build healthy people.  When we model the kind of behavior we want from our children, we are setting the right example for them, and this is a key way they learn.  When we talk with them on their eye level, with a calm and respectful tone of voice, they will learn to communicate respectfully.  When we share our mistakes and what we have learned from them, we are helping our children understand that mistakes are opportunities to learn.  When we help our children solve their own problems rather than fixing things for them, we are helping build important life skills.

When we start this new season, let's think about being respectful and agreeing on appropriate boundaries.
