Additional Monies Earmarked for Snow Removal Next Year

Southbury officials are discussing whether to create a reserve account for snow removal costs.

The Board of Finance agreed to fund an additional $100,000 for sand and salt removal next year or a total of $393,200.

Additionally, $60,000 was budgeted for overtime costs as well, reports Bill Bittar of the Republican-American.

Some officials wanted to create a reserve account for snow removal suggesting $90,000, which would fund three storms, be set aside in a special account.

Southbury officials may start a reserve account if there is any money left over at the end of the fiscal year, which is June 30.
