Blizzard 2015: Southbury Taking All Necessary Precautions to Prepare
The latest information from the town as Southbury prepares for the upcoming blizzard.
Code Red Message sent out at 8:30 p.m. by the First Selectman Ed Edelson.
Good evening, this is First Selectman Ed Edelson with an update. By now I hope all Southbury residents are home, prepared to shelter in place through the duration of the storm and are adequately supplied in case of a power interruption. Our Emergency Operations Center is activated, we are in direct communication with CL&P, our Public Works crew has pre-treated the roads and is keeping up with the initial snowfall. However, it is expected that the snowfall will intensify after midnight. We have kept extra police in town as a precaution. I appreciate that people are staying off the roads as this makes the work of our drivers safer and faster. If you have an emergency situation, do not hesitate to call 911 or 203 264 5912 (police department).

All State and Town roads are closed for non-emergency travel as of 9 pm tonight.
I encourage everyone to go home as soon as possible and stay home until the storm passes and roads are clear.
Allow our Public Works staff to clear roads without complication of non-emergency traffic. At this point, Shelter in Place is the best strategy. If you have an emergency, please call 911 and the dispatchers will get you the help you need. If there is a major loss of electric power, we will provide shelter options as soon as safe and practical.
