B’nai Israel of Southbury Hosts Annual Community Picnic on Sunday, Aug. 19

B'nai Israel of Southbury will host its Annual Community Picnic for current and prospective members on Sunday, Aug. 19 from 12pm to 4pm at Ballantine Park & Pavilion on Old Field Road in Southbury.

Mustard?  Ketchup?  Relish?  Onions?  No matter how you like to eat them, Congregation B’nai Israel of Southbury will serve up hot dogs. hamburgers and much more as it holds its Annual Community Picnic for congregation members and prospective members from the community on Sunday, August 19 from 12:00pm –4:00pm at Ballantine Park & Pavilion on Old Field Road in Southbury.

The B’nai Israel Annual Picnic, which welcomes a diverse group of Jewish and interfaith families from throughout the region, will offer FREE food, fun and conversation, including family softball games, children’s crafts and more.  Attendees are also encouraged to BYOG – Bring Your Own Games!

“The Annual Picnic is an event our entire congregation looks forward to each summer and we’re all saying a little prayer for another beautiful Southbury summer day,” said Rabbi Eric Polokoff.  “We’ll be very blessed to enjoy the day eating, playing, listening to good music and catching up with congregation members, friends and neighbors who may be considering joining our very special congregation at B’nai Israel of Southbury.”

B’nai Israel will provide hot dogs, hamburgers, veggie burgers, chicken dogs, chips and salsa, plus all the trimmings and beverages.  Each year, congregation members also provide a wide array of homemade salads, appetizers, side dishes, fruits and vegetables, and desserts.  Attendees are asked to label all dishes.  No pork or shellfish and please separate milk and meat.
