The Other Abuse

There are 3 types of abuse. Physical, Sexual and the other abuse, Psychological. A short introduction to this topic.

The Other Abuse

There are three (3) types of abuse.  Physical, where the abuse harms a person’s personal body.  Sexual, which goes deeper to the core and involves inappropriate acts of lewd behavior upon someone.  And then there is the other one, Psychological abuse or the abuse of the mind, heart and soul.  This last form of abuse that disregards another human’s personal safety, boundaries and space can be even more invasive and damaging because the trauma is not readily noticeable or even obviously detectable.

Physical abuse provides painful signs we can see.  It is something that one can actually feel the pain.  Sexual, though also a form of physical abuse is obviously shunned and can involve internal physical violations of the body.   In sharp contrast, psychological abuse is internalized.

Subtle at its core, a person often does not realize they are being psychologically abused until the damages are severe.  It’s seems normal to them and they don’t question it because it is all they know.  When they finally do realize what has happened, it is engrained into their heart and soul.  For this reason, it is the longest term, and most devastating abuse of them all.  This form of abuse involves reprogramming of a fragile brain and soul to project that hatred, anger and fears of another person, without considering the consequences of those actions or what I have termed Borderless Boundaries.  Because this persons very core has been ripped with no Band-Aid or cast to put on to help it heal, the internal damages become invisible scars that only extensive and intensive psychological therapy can ever ease but unfortunately never erase.  A broken arm mends, a vaginal or anal tear heals, but just like a person’s heart, which cannot completely be repaired permanently, there is no true fix for the emotional damages caused by psychological abuse to the heart, soul and mind of any person.  Like bullying and terrorism, psychological abuse causes life-long damages.

In the up-coming weeks, I will be reporting on a high profile court case out of the New Haven Courts, on this very subject of psychological abuse and if it is a crime.  Stay tuned.
