Breath Tests Can be Administered to Pomperaug High School Students

The Region 15 Board of Education recently approved the new policy and officials hope it will deter students from drinking.

The Region 15 Board of Education has passed a new policy that allows designated staff members at Pomperaug High School to perform breath tests on high school students before big school events including the prom, the Republican-American reports.

Principal Glenn Lungarini said schools spend so much time teaching about the dangers of alcohol and substance abuse and this policy will hopefully deter students from drinking alcohol, the Rep-Am reports.

The breath tests can be administered a few inches from a students face so there is no contact.
