- An increase in compensation to 10 cents per item, double the rate from last year. Each normal-size bag pays $20.
- Plastic bottles should be sorted by size: those smaller than 1-liter, 1-liter, and 2-liter bottles, each in a separate bag. Redeemable cans can be in the same bag as plastic bottles that are smaller than 1-liter. All glass bottles must be in a cardboard container to prevent breakage in the bags.
- EyeRecycle is now accepting used inkjet printer cartridges (excluding laser cartridges). Participants can drop them off in the collection box, and Sustainable Southbury will facilitate their recycling, potentially receiving a small donation to support community initiatives.
- Sustainable Southbury's popular food scrap recycling kit is available for purchase at these events, while supplies last.
- EyeRecycle bags for future drop-offs can also be purchased, allowing participants to use the express lane for quicker service. Volunteers are available to transfer bottles into an EyeRecycle bag if needed.
Sustainable Southbury events are on the first Sunday of the month and open to anyone regardless of their town. For additional information, contact info@sustainablesouthbury.org.
