
Embark on an unforgettable walking adventure to commemorate the historic trip that Comte de Rochambeau and his 5000 French troops took through Southbury during the American Revolution nearly 250 years ago. This special event is held in celebration of Connecticut Trails Day 2026 and America 250.
The hike will be led by Joe Ruggiero, President of the land trust. This hike will consist of 8-five minute history talks, presented by Southbury Town Historian John Dwyer. Participants will park at Settlers Park in Southbury and will be bused to the starting location and back. Water and facilities will be available along the way. Apple cider will be served by the Southbury Historical Society at the Memorial Park history spot where a new plaque will be dedicated. This event will take place on Saturday, June 6th , 2026, with a rain date of Sunday, June 7th , 2026. June 6th and 7th is Connecticut Trails Day weekend. Start time is 10:00AM at Settlers Park.
