Calling All Connecticut Artists Age 70+

Connecticut artists aged 70+ are invited to submit their creative work – paintings, drawings, photography and sculpture – to participate in the 8th annual Connecticut Senior Juried Art Show at Pomperaug Woods on Sept. 26-27. Entry forms with a photo of original artwork are due by Friday, June 26, 2015. Entrants may submit up to two pieces. The popular event is the first and only art show of its type in Connecticut. Themed “The Art of the Experience,” the event is produced by and hosted at Pomperaug Woods, Southbury’s only not-for-profit retirement community. In 2014, there were 405 submissions from 163 artists in 55 towns across Connecticut.

First-place winners in each of the four categories – painting, drawings, sculptures and photography – will receive cash prizes. There will also be a $250 cash prize and a crystal trophy in the shape of an artist’s palette awarded to the winner of the “Tommie Davis Award.” Winning artwork will also be featured at the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury from October 4 to November 15, which is known for its exhibits and collections that interpret the history of the region and the art of Connecticut.
