Cause of Fire that Damaged 5 Condos in Southbury Revealed: Report

The fire occurred just before midnight on July 29 on Winship Drive.

A fire this past summer that damaged five condos on Winship Drive as part of Heritage Village was determined to be accidental and no criminal charges will be filed, the Republican-American reports.

Fire broke out at 11:50 p.m. on July 29, and investigators concluded that the “careless misuse or discarding of smoking materials” in one of the bedrooms is what started the fire, the Rep-Am reports.

One building will likely have to be demolished.
