Chip's Family Restaurant Opens its Fifth CT Location in Southbury
Chip's is routinely voted the best pancakes in the entire state of Connecticut.

Continuing its steady growth in Connecticut, Chip’s Family Restaurant has opened its fifth location – this one on Main Street in Southbury.
To celebrate, Chip’s hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony at the restaurant on July 8. The ceremony was attended by Chip’s extended family, Southbury First Selectman Ed Edelson, and Sen. Tony Hwang (R-28), a longtime fan and supporter of Chip’s community based business model.
Famous for the variety and creativity of its homemade pancakes, Chip’s also has locations in Fairfield, Trumbull, Orange, and Wethersfield. Chip’s owner Georgie Chatzopoulos says Chip’s secret is simple.

“We are a family restaurant,” he said. “Everything is homemade and that’s what makes the difference. We are here because of the local people. I believe that providing good service, great food and a friendly atmosphere will keep our customers coming back.”
The Greek immigrant and Orange resident has also stayed true to his mission to give back to the community. As he has done with each location, Chatzopoulos kicked things off in Southbury with a fundraiser. Held a few weeks ago, Chip’s fundraiser netted more than $6,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

“Aside from the great food and friendly service, Chip’s is a wonderful example of how important local businesses are to our community,” Sen. Hwang said. “Not only do they create jobs and stimulate economic activity, they are invested in our community and the people who live and work here. You really can’t put a price tag on that, and I’m happy that Southbury and surrounding communities will be the beneficiary of Georgie’s good will and Chip’s business success.”
Sen. Hwang said he relates to Chatzopoulos, since both are immigrants with a goal of “service above self.”
“Chip’s has been strongly supportive in giving back to the community and our invaluable non-profits and charitable organizations,” Sen. Hwang said. “Georgie’s focus has always been to give back to the community and I believe that has helped make his restaurants successful.”
“As fellow immigrants, we both love this country and are grateful for the opportunity to live the American Dream,” Sen. Hwang said. “Working hard to succeed and maintain a commitment to this community is an unfailing value that we mutually share.”
Chip’s is located at 775 Main Street South, in the Southbury Green shopping plaza. For more information, including a menu and the Southbury location’s phone number, visit the Restaurant’s website: http://chipsrestaurants.com.
