Congratulations to Lora Karam for winning an oil painting of Angelo!

A custom oil painting by ShawnaLee W. Kwashnak was donated as top prize for Whiskers Pet Rescue's Cat Photo contest in April.

Congratulations to Lora Karam for winning a painting of her cat, Angelo! The 8x10” oil painting was donated to Whiskers Pet Rescue by ShawnaLee W. Kwashnak as the top prize for their Cat Photo Contest in April. Proceeds benefited all the kitties at Whiskers Pet Rescue!

Lora shares: “We're so happy with the painting ShawnaLee did for us! She truly captured Angelo's expression (and a little of his mischief)! Whiskers Pet Rescue is an organization that's dear to me and my husband's hearts. We're cat owners and love to support Caroline and all the amazing volunteers who do so much for animals in need - they are a treasure! The community's support of this organization is so important so they can continue to do the work they're doing.”

The contest was held as part of “For the love of cats” art show held at Whiskers. This Cat-ivating Art Show featured a collection of Feline Portraits by ShawnaLee including her own studio companions through the years. A virtual pet portrait demonstration of Sumi, an elegant black cat, was part of the events. Sumi, a beloved member of Margaret Makaltses family, is very well loved!

Selecting winners for the photo contest was difficult. “The cats entered were just amazing .…all were so adorable! If only there was time to paint them all!” From 40 entries there were three winners who were announced during the virtual artist’s reception.

First place prize went to "Angelo" care of Lora Karam, Southbury, CT. Lora won a painting and a Whiskers T-Shirt;

Second place went to "Bruno" care of Carly Keith, Higganum, CT. Carly won a Whiskers T-Shirt; Third place went to "Sara" care of Helena Marchant, Prospect, CT who won a Whisker’s Hat.
