Pomperaug JV vs. Southington

Go Long……

Following the impressive Varsity victory, the JV lax
athletes took the field with hopes that they would have the same outcome. Our first face off lead to Southington gaining possession of the ball, doing a fast break, and projecting it at our goal. Zachary G represented beautifully with a quick reflex of a save. We knew right then and there, this was not going to be an easy game.  Defense’s potency was found within Seamus Conway who showed awe-inspiring strength as he stays in bound and proceeds down field to get the ball away from our goal not only
throughout this game, but every game. It would not be fair to not give recognition to Todd Moosey as the crowd applauded his passion, when he refused to let 6 opponents push him out or check the ball out of his stick as he
continued his journey to clear our side of the field.  The most popular plays for this game were the long passes from our goalies to our offense line to simply get the action going on that side of the field.  Giardina projected half field
throws to comrade Connor Hurley twice in the game as attempts for success by the middies and attacks. Mitchell probed a shot, following Quintis recovery of the ball. Pope gives an admirable assit to #7- Garret’s much wanted first goal for us in the second half. Nice teamwork! Russo takes an unlawful blow following a well-called penalty against Southington from the referees. Nevers sets sail another long pass respectively caught by Caleb Saleeby. Offense
certifiably can catch, but just couldn’t get the goals we needed to win the game.  Final score Pomperaug 1 vs.
Southington 9.   The Most Valuable Players for this game is awarded to #14 Seamus Conway and # 44 Todd Moosey for their efforts to be the strength needed for the wall to defend our goal.
