Tonight’s game screamed the respect for our defense players
who stepped up their game and demonstrated what hard work at practices can
do. You were AMAZING! There were players like Hurley, with sweet defensive moves, also like #31 who strikes out a shot to our goal right back at the competition. Bethel continuously
thought about taking on a huge lead, but Pomperaug’s JV lax defense was
phenomenal! You made us all proud tonight.
Offense showed signs of intent, as Max snags a loose cannon ball and
runs with it, Brewer kept making sure his man sees no action this evening, and
Pope stood tall being our guidance at the X.
These guys wanted a goal so bad they can taste it. Our own #14 was
admired even from the other side’s fans as I heard them say what an annoyance
he was to their players trying to make a goal. Keep it up! Ground ball scoops were seen left and right by #11.
Garret had some great recovers. Jimmy T
had a cool catch from Nevers ¾’s of the way down field! #10- Pendergast fights
like a bull for the ball, just like #6 plows through a left over face off
leaving the ball free for possession for Pomperaug. The word “DRIVEN” comes to
mind. Chad has a cultured pass with #17
assisting to Pat Garret’s goal. Talk about working together. Though some of the
ref’s calls left us confused in the stands, tonight’s game is, hands down,
given to #24 - Matt Cantor for his exceptional skills at repetitious abductions
of the ball. Final Score: Bethel: 6 vs
JV Pomperaug 1. You played like
winners. Remember, as the Davis family quoted in our fundraiser book, You miss 100 percent of the shots you never took. Keep up the hard work!

Immaculate vs. JV Pomperaug
WORDS CANNOT DO THIS GAME JUSTICE!
Where to even begin?
The JV lacrosse players were just RIDICULOUS
tonight! Everyone had part of the action.
It begins with an incinerating start. There were so many great moves, that my hand hurt from trying to keep up with my notes. Thanks to the joint team efforts of the
player’s families and fans, we were able to capture these astounding plays. It turns out; we make a pretty good team too.
Let’s start with Holguin winning the opening face off to then assist Wiley for our first goal, breaking the cloud of any negative reflections of our prior 2 games. Within seconds, Cody D’Avanzo sets up a perfect assist to Walker for his 2nd goal. We all just got here Wiley! Chris Horn comes out of nowhere to thrust another goal in. Follow this math, we then get our goalie, Zachary G, to
throw a pass 2 Seamus 2 Roper 2 Pope 2 = 4th goal for Pomperaug. 2 square =’s 4 right? Moving on to the stupendous motions from our Middy line. Brewer knocks the ball from Immaculate’s clench to end our 1st quarter. Chris Horn, Jeff Strakosch, Mitchell Davis, Connor Hurley, Cody D, Gusthoven , C. Clarke. Quinttin, Chris Az-B, and Max “The Ax” Holguin are in constant combat to get that ball to its place in goal. Kaufmen has a reoccurring desires to make a top shelf point and then withstands a cross check that gets flagged from one of the refs.
Those refs’s can’t see
everything, but they do try. You gotta respect the refs!
And then there is Stephen Cangelosi who’s game was on! Hats off to your repeated embezzlement from our rivals, getting the possession rightfully back to us. This game… believe it or not, leaves the best for last. Our voyage continues with the attacks and defensemen. They were not compliant be left out. Matt “ Where do you get off trying that” Witek showing consistent triumphs of not letting the opponents through, as well as Nick Boland “clipping
the stick” of our opposites letting them know “There will be none of that.” Spencer Pope demands respect when he took on the 5th goal all by himself. Moosey and Plczar make their distinctive moves to assist their goalies from any unneeded stress. Our attacks were unstoppable! Caleb, Jeff , Jimmy and Nick played incredible. We had Pat
Garret at our “X” who snuck in our 7th goal leading to Jones winning our next face off. Cantor gets his fame from forcing our 6th goal in. 2nd half goalie, TylerNevers, does a “Hail Mary” throw that was caught flawlessly by #3 who tosses it to #17 for our 8th goal. Who is #3? That would be our very own Matt Roper. Roper…You Rock!!! Number 52 then does an amazing assist to Nick Russo for a well-placed 9th goal. Russo…what’s got into you? What ever it is, keep it up! Nevers once again, took a well-served pass to #52, otherwise known as Josh Pendergast. The excitement roared in the stands to witness as Josh P turns powerfully and COMPLETELY owns our last goal. There must be some good luck in that new helmet he was sporting, along with some talent from years of practice.
Tonight’s game was a real pleasure to witness and I can’t help but think you did your coaches,
Perreault and Banwell, proud. Listen to them, and they will help youachieve great triumphs.
Congrats JV! There will be no MVP announcement for this game because you all own this title tonight in my book.
