'The Last Train' Book Signing; Feat. Author Wendell Minor and Musician Gordon Titcomb

Attention Train Lovers of all ages!!!

The Friends of the Southbury Public Library are presenting local author/artist Wendell Minor and local songwriter/musician Gordon Titcomb on Monday, November 8 after hours at 6:00pm in the library's Kingsley Room.  They will discuss their recently published children's book (ages 3-8), The Last Train.

Mr. Titcomb, an accomplished songwriter and musician who has performed with Arlo Guthrie and Paul Simon and Wendell Minor, a New York Times best selling artist/author of more than 40 picture books including Mary Higgins Clark's  Ghost Ship and Buzz Aldrin's  Look to the Stars  have collaborated on a book for the first time. Mr. Titcomb drew upon his lifelong love of trains which led to his writing a song The Last Train.  He thought that it would be a great song to sing to his grand children one day. However, his friend of 20 years Wendell Minor had a different idea. He suggested that it be made into a picture book.  Wendell approached editor Neil Porter with the idea and received a resounding approval.   Mr. Titcomb wrote three more verses and Mr. Minor added his interpretation of the song through his beautiful, historically accurate illustrations.  Mr. Titcomb, said "It's a children's book, yes, but I think that it can be enjoyed by anyone from 3 years old to 80."
