Generous Donation Helps Southbury Police Officers: Report
The donation was made to help honor the memory of former First Selectman Alfio A. Candido Jr.

SOUTHBURY, CT — A generous donation will help ensure the safety of Southbury's police officers. A $1,000 donation was made by Michael J. Candido to the police union in honor of his late father, former First Selectman Alfio A. Candido Jr., the Republican-American reports.
This is a big deal because police officers are the one's left to pay for the vests initially, the Rep-Am reports. The town pays for bullet-proof vests after the initial one. The town has six new officers about to begin and the $1,000 will be divided six ways. One vest costs about $1,000.
