Hearing on Sewer Rate Increase Cancelled in Southbury

PURA has cancelled the hearing, which will be rescheduled.

The Public Utilities Regulatory Authority cancelled a hearing scheduled for Monday night, Chris Gardner reports for the Republican-American.

The hearing was cancelled on the request of Heritage Village Water Co., who want to raise sewer rates by 73.2 percent and and water rates by more than 5 percent to help pay for the federally mandated upgrade of its wastewater treatment plant.

According to the paper, the hearing will be rescheduled for late February.
