History Bites series - History of Heritage Village

Join us at the Old Town Hall Museum in South Britain for our next History Bites lecture - the history of Heritage Village!

History Bites, the lunchtime lecture series that runs annually from April through June, continues at the Old Town Hall Museum in South Britain on Thursday, April 16 at 12 PM. In this year’s theme, A Closer Look, the Southbury Historical Society revisits the history of Heritage Village. Attendance is free and registration is not required. Attendees should bring lunch; the Society will provide drinks and dessert for a suggested $2 donation.

In 1967, the town of Southbury firmly landed on the map when Heritage Village opened its doors as a model retirement community. Since its opening, the “Village” has been an important part of Southbury. Mildred Gallik, a member of the Heritage Village Archive Committee, will present an illustrated history offering a close-up look at the village as it prepares to celebrate 50 years in 2017. Kimberly Neuenschwander, archivist for the Southbury Historical Society, will precede the discussion by presenting the opposing and dissenting opinions of the Southbury Community.

The 2015 History Bites lecture series is sponsored by the Connecticut Community Foundation.
