Important Information for Southbury Voters for 2016

Primary for Presidential Office - April 26, 2016

  • Republican and Democratic.
  • Voters will vote at their assigned district polling sites. Click here to find your voting district and a polling location.
  • January 26: The last date to change party affiliation to vote in the Primary.
  • April 25, Noon: The last date for unaffiliated voters to join a party to vote in the Primary and new electors to register to vote.
  • Election Day Voter Registration is not available for Primaries.

Budget Referendum - May 4, 2016

  • The Town of Southbury Budget and Pomperaug Regional School District #15 Budget Referendum.
  • All voting will be held at the Firehouse at 461 Main Street South.
  • May 3: The last date to register to vote.
  • Property owners who are not registered voters in Southbury may vote at the referendum providing they are U.S. Citizens, at least 18 years of age and own property valued at $1,000 or more recorded on the Southbury Grand List as of October 1, 2015.
  • Election Day Voter Registration is not available for Referendum.

Presidential Election - November 8, 2016

  • November 1: Deadline to Register by mail and online
  • “Hand delivered” registrations must be received by the registrars by this date and “mailed” registrations must be postmarked by this date. Online registrations are considered as “mailed” registrations.
  • November 1: Registration Cut-off
  • The office will be open till 8:00pm. This is the last regular session for electors who become 18 years of age, U.S. citizens, or residents of Southbury.
  • November 7: Limited Registration Session
  • Last day to register if you have become 18 years of age, become a citizen, are servicemen discharged within the past year or moved to Southbury since November 1. The office will be open till 5:00pm.
  • November 8: Election Day Registration
  • This is available to those who are a U.S. citizens, 18 years of age and a bona fide resident of the municipality. Identification is required - the voter must prove their identity and residence. For the greatest convenience electors are encouraged to register by the appropriate deadlines whenever possible. All same day applicants MUST cast the ballot immediately after registration.

All elections, primaries and referenda are from 6AM - 8PM.

  • Voting District #1, Firehouse, 461 Main Street South
  • Voting District #2, Public Library, 100 Poverty Road
  • Voting District #3, Community Building (Senior Center/Parks & Rec), 561 Main Street South
