Internet Safety Night Forum To Be Held

The forum is sponsored by Region 15, SMART, DMHAS, and the Connecticut Community Foundation.

From Region 15 Schools: Pomperaug Regional School District 15 has announced an Internet Safety presentation designed for Parents and Guardians on Tuesday, February 26th, 6:30 – 8:00 pm in the auditorium of Long Meadow Elementary School (LMES) – 63 North Benson Road in Middlebury, CT. This is a free presentation that is open to all adults in the surrounding communities.

Scott Driscoll of Internet Safety Concepts will be presenting information to heighten awareness of potential Internet and social media dangers, while focusing on the positive aspects of technology. The Internet Safety presentation complements Region 15’s school assemblies that are scheduled in February for students across the district in grade 5. School-aged children of Parents/Guardians who are attending the Internet presentation are invited to see Noah Cross the Magician in a special performance in the gymnasium at LMES. The Magic Show is scheduled to occur at the same time as the scheduled Internet Safety presentation. The Region 15 Before and After School program will provide supervision to children so Parents/Guardians may attend the presentation. Child supervision will be available beginning at 6:15 pm.

Region 15 is offering this presentation in collaboration with the Southbury & Middlebury Acting Responsibly Together (S.M.A.R.T). S.M.A.R.T. secured funding from grants provided by the State of Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) and Connecticut Community Foundation. S.M.A.R.T., Inc. is a non-profit organization 501(c)(3) dedicated to strengthening individuals, families, and communities. Connecticut Community Foundation is a tax-exempt public charity that helps to improve the quality of life for people in their local towns.
