EverWonder Children’s Museum is pleased to announce its calendar for January 2017. The museum has events for the entire family. The event calendar is subject to change without notice. Please check EverWonderMuseum.org or Facebook for calendar changes and announcements.

EverWonder is open Tuesday- Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Admission is $7.00 per person, and children under the age of 1 year old are free. Museum members are free. Parking at the museum is also free.

Story Lab for Young Explorers meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 am to 11:00 am. This 30 minute program of STEM themed stories, activities, and crafts takes place in the EverWonder classroom. Parents must stay with their children during the program. Program is free with museum admission.

Art Lab Change: Paper Snowflakes

It is a scientific fact that no two snowflakes are alike. Children will fold and cut pieces of paper to create unique snowflakes in EverWonder’s new Art Lab. In this activity, children will learn about lines of symmetry and geometric patterns.

Let's explore shapes and symmetry! On Wednesday, January 4th, children will use rubber bands and geoboards to design snowflakes.

Science Lab: Snowflake Shape Building

Through using construction paper and tape, children will create different shapes and then arrange the shapes into a snowflake. Children will learn about shapes, patterns and lines of symmetry during this program.

School’s out? Looking for something to do with your kids? EverWonder Children’s Museum will be open on Monday, January 16th. We will be making mixed media winter paintings in the classroom from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Science Lab: Ice Friction

Let's put hockey to the test! On Wednesday, January 18th, we are turning hockey into a science experiment through testing ice friction. Children will slide different objects, like glass marbles, crayons, milk jug caps, bark, rocks, puff balls, and felt across ice to test out which surface has the most tension.

National Popcorn Day

Let's get poppin'! Children will guess how many popcorn kernels it takes to fill a jar of popped popcorn while playing EverWonder's Popcorn Estimation game. Members will receive a complementary bag of popcorn.

Science Lab: Ice Chemistry

Ever wonder why salt helps snow and ice melt? On Wednesday, January 26th, children will explore ice chemistry through table salt to help melt ice cubes. Children will learn about chemical reactions and pressure through this science lab.

Formed in January 2011 by a group of parents, EverWonder Children’s Museum (incorporated as Newtown Children’s Museum, Inc.) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring children and families in Northern Fairfield County through the use of hands-on museum exhibits and demonstrations. Museums hours are Tuesday – Saturday 10:00 am -5:00 pm and Sunday 11:00 am – 5:00 pm. The museum is located at 31 Pecks Lane Newtown, CT 06470.
