Major Retailer Announced For Southbury: Report

One retailer abruptly closed recently but the space won't be vacant for long.

SOUTHBURY, CT — HomeGoods will be taking the place of the recently closed Staples building in the fall of 2018, the Republican-American reports. The store will be located at 775 Main St. South. Numerous renovations will occur to the 20,000-square-foot building before HomeGoods opens.

Town officials say the fact that a national retailer was quickly attracted to the space is a sign that the town's economic development is strong, the Rep-Am reports. There are eight HomeGoods stores in Connecticut currently.

According to the HomeGoods website, "We love the feeling of finding something spectacular at a price that's equally so. We call this feeling HomeGoods Happy—finding what you love at a price you adore. It's the feeling that drives everything we do, and it's why HomeGoods is where savvy shoppers of every style discover an ever changing selection of exciting top brands and home fashions from around the world, at prices generally 20%-60% below department and specialty store regular prices, on comparable merchandise, every day."
