Man Arrested In Southbury Training School Arson Case: Police
A Southbury man was arrested on accusations that he started a fire at a Southbury Training School building.
SOUTHBURY, CT — Police have arrested a man accused of committing arson at Southbury Training School. The arrest stems from a Dec. 17 incident when the Southbury Fire Department responded to a report of smoke in the area of 24 Village Road.
Firefighters arrived at 10:26 p.m. to find a cottage and surrounding brush in flames. The structure sustained "catastrophic damage," and its roof and walls had collapsed.
The Southbury Training School property has sections "that are abandoned/condemned," according to an arrest warrant. Police said a gate on the south side of the campus was unsecured as it had been recently damaged by vandals. Squatters and trespassers frequent the property, according to police.

Police arrived at Gulick's home Thursday to make an arrest. Gulick allegedly fled his home as detectives approached, according to police. Police tracked him down in a wooded area.
