Man Charged In Southbury Theft Case: Police

A man is facing charges that he stole items from a Southbury grocery store, according to police.

SOUTHBURY, CT — A man has been charged on accusations that he stole items from a Shop Rite. Police were called to the 775 Main St. store at 5:42 p.m. on Tuesday.

The suspect attempted to leave the store in his vehicle before police arrived. However, police located the man and stopped him without incident, according to a department Facebook post.

The man is accused of leaving the store with several unpaid items in his shopping cart. He was also driving a vehicle while having a suspended license, according to police.

He was charged with sixth-degree larceny and operating under suspension.

He was released on a $500 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear at Waterbury Superior Courthouse on Nov. 6.
