Man Facing Charges in August Home Invasion After Extradition to CT

During the home invasion, an elderly man suffered a gunshot wound and non-life threatening injuries.

BRIDGEWATER, CT — A man involved in multiple crimes in the area was extradited back to Connecticut on Friday and is facing several charges, Connecticut State Police said.

The man, Dustin Holst-Grubbe, 20, of Millerton, New York was the suspect in a August home invasion that took place in Bridgewater where police found a gunshot victim. Holst-Grubbe had fled the scene before troopers arrived and was believed to be armed and hiding in the wooded area near the boat launch at Lake Lillinonah, police said.

While searching for Holst-Grubbe, police located a vehicle stolen out of New York and a shotgun in the immediate area. Police determined that the vehicle was related to the home invasion. A resident then told police his car was no longer in his driveway and troopers determined that the suspect was no longer in the area. A vehicle stolen out of Bridgewater was then found in Waterbury and authorities there determined that it was related to the home invasion.

State police said troopers also recovered a stolen motor vehicle on S. Main St. in Bridgewater, and WDMC recovered two stolen motor vehicles on North Main St. in Waterbury.

Through the efforts of WDMC, Middletown, New York police department, and the Duchess County Sheriff’s Office in New York the suspect was identified as Holst-Grubbe,who was allegedly involved in multiple crimes throughout these jurisdictions. He turned himself in to the New York State Police Barracks in the first week of August on burglary charges. Connecticut State Police held an active warrant for Holst-Grubbe with charges stemming to the home invasion and stolen cars that would be served upon his extradition.

After his extradition, Holst-Grubbe was charged with:

  • Home Invasion
  • Assault of an Elderly Person
  • First degree assault (with a Deadly Weapon)
  • Stealing a firearm
  • First degree burglary
  • Two counts of third degree burglary
  • Two counts of second degree larceny
  • Two counts of third degree larceny
  • Criminal mischief
  • Criminal trespass
  • Credit card theft

He was given a court date of Jan. 13 and a $1,025,000 bond.
