Man To Serve 5 Years For Crash That Killed Southbury Grandmother

The man agreed to a plea deal in the case and will be sentenced next month.

SOUTHBURY, CT — William Foley, 30, of Northfield agreed to a plea deal that has him serving the next five years in prison for his role in an accident that killed Ruth B. Grant, 69, of Southbury, the Republican-American reports.

Foley was driving a dump truck and ran a red light while traveling on Main Street North in Southbury last year. Other motorists rushed to the aid of Grant, a grandmother of six, but she succumbed to her injuries. The woman's estate is suing the company that owned the truck claiming there were several problems with the vehicle, the Rep-Am reports.

Foley agreed to a plea deal and will be sentenced in February. He has another case pending out of Bristol too on an assault and violating a protective order charge in April 2017, according to court records. Foley also has past convictions including an assault and violation of probation charge back in 2014, according to the state's judicial website.
