Man Under the Influence Cursed at Troopers, Elbowed Them During Arrest for Crash in Southbury

The incident occurred around noon on Sunday.

Christopher Muskus, 34, was pulled over on Route 172 on suspicion of crashing into another car on the westbound side of I-84 near Exit 15 in Southbury, the paper reports. Muskus failed sobriety tests and admitted to drinking earlier in the day.

Muskus cursed at troopers and elbowed an officer in the jaw while being arrested. Muskus continued to struggle inside the trooper’s cruiser after his legs were shackled and he was tasered.

According to the paper, Muskus was taken to Waterbury Hospital where he had to be restrained and sedated.

Muskus was charged with interfering with police, assaulting personnel, second-degree threatening, criminal mischief and several motor vehicle violations, including driving under the influence and evading responsibility. He was held on a $10,000 bond after a brief arraignment in Waterbury Superior Court.
