Man Wields Machete, Shots Fired, 3 Arrested In New Fairfield: Police

NEW FAIRFIELD, CT — Three people were arrested following a crime in New Fairfield that involved a machete, shots fired, and one car ramming another, according to state police.

State Police Troop A in Southbury responded to a Bigelow Road residence at 12:51 p.m. Monday on a shots-fired call. Before they arrived, they were told New Fairfield police had taken three people into custody.

The three people arrested are accused of involvement in two separate violent incidents related to each other, according to police.

The first incident involved a domestic violence incident at a Cloverleaf Drive residence, police said.

In the second incident, a 32-year-old New Fairfield resident, and a 40-year-old New Fairfield resident were both driving and encountered each other at an intersection.

One man got out of his car and approached another man and a female passenger with a machete, police said. A man then went back to his car and intentionally rammed it into a vehicle, police said.

One man then fired a gun at the other man, according to police. One person had a superficial injury from a bullet fragment, police said. He was treated and released by New Fairfield EMS.

One man resisted arrest but was ultimately taken into custody by state police.
