More Layoffs Announced at the Southbury Training School: Report

The layoffs are part of the state's efforts to reduce a nearly $1 billion deficit next year.

SOUTHBURY, CT - The layoffs keep coming at the Southbury Training School as an additional 17 employees were informed they are being let go last week, the Republican-American reports.

This is on top of the 25 employees who were laid off at the Southbury Training School in April.

Employees laid off include 16 cook attendants and one head cook, the Rep-Am reports.

The layoffs are a result of the state’s projected nearly $1 billion deficit next year and the state is in the midst of eliminating up to 2,500 state employee positions next year.
