Arlene Gail Herrick, 65, of Southbury passed away on August 23. Arlene was born on May 19, 1951 in Atlantic City, N.J. daughter of Edward and Rose Katz. She grew up in Margate, N.J. Her favorite place was the Atlantic Ocean and the beach.

Arlene attended Harcum College in Bryn Mawr, PA. She graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, N.J. in 1973 where she met Michael, her husband of 41 years. They lived in Ridgefield Park, N.J. and moved to Southbury in 1982.

Arlene was well known as the first activities director at Pomperaug Woods Retirement Community. She also touched many lives as the property manager of Grace Meadows apartment community from 2009 until her retirement in 2015.

She was an avid reader of romance novels. She loved hiking, camping and the outdoors. Arlene leaves behind her brother Martin Katz of Phoenix, Arizona, his wife Cheryl, son Stephen, and husband Michael.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, we ask that memorial contributions be made to Smilow Cancer Hospital and Hartford HealthCare at Home, whose visiting nurses were so kind and attentive.
