Obituary: Barbara Mary Sharkey, 82, of Heritage Village

Southbury – Barbara Mary Sharkey, 82, of Heritage Village, died Wednesday, Oct. 12th. She was the wife of John P. Sharkey. Mrs. Sharkey was born December 8, 1933, in Syracuse, NY, daughter of the late George and Doreen (Brown) Fellows.

Prior to moving to Southbury in 2001, she and her husband were long-time residents of Parlin, NJ, where she worked as a real estate broker for Harrison Realty and Schlott Realty. She was also an active parishioner of St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church in Parlin, as a member of the Rosary Society, the choir and serving as a religious education teacher. In Southbury she was a communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Besides her devoted husband, Jack, of 61 years, she leaves her loving children, Daniel Sharkey and his wife, Anne, of Southbury, Jill Kimball and her husband, Neal, of Orlando, FL and Beth Flynn and her husband, John, of Melrose, MA; one brother, George Fellows and his wife, Carol, of Rochester, NY; 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Oct. 15th at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main Street South, Southbury. Calling hours: Friday Oct. 14th from 5 to 8 p.m. in the chapel of Sacred Heart Church. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Southbury, will be private. Arrangements by Carpino Funeral Home, Southbury.
