Obituary: Dominic V. Melillo

Dominic V. Melillo, of Southbury, formerly of Danbury, died on March 9, 2012, at Waterbury Hospital. He was born in Danbury on January 22, 1932, a son of the late James V. and Antoinette (Gabriel) Melillo.

At a young age, Dominic performed in Minstrel & Variety shows and won awards for his performances. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Alaska. He enjoyed entertaining friends and family. He was a loving father, brother and grandfather and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by 2 sons: Peter J. Melillo and his wife, Shari of New Hartford, CT; Dominic C. Melillo and his wife, Janet of Atlanta, GA; a daughter: Christine Melillo of Torrington, CT. Three grandchildren: Dominic and Mason Melillo and Samantha Marie Melillo; a brother: Vincent James Melillo of Bethel, CT; 3 sisters: Carmella (Dolly) Imbarrato of Garden City, LI; Aurora Wyrum and her husband, Lee of New Smyrna Beach, FL, and Marie Funk and her husband, Lou of Sherman, CT. He was predeceased by a daughter, Laura P. Melillo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at St. Peter Church, Danbury. Burial in St. Peter Cemetery will follow.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, from 5 to 8 pm at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury.
