Obituary: Dr. Victor Francisco Lopez, 88, of Heritage Village
He served as neuropathologist at the Danbury Hospital for more than 25 years.

Southbury – Dr. Victor Francisco Lopez, 88, of Heritage Village, Southbury and Santo Domingo, D.R., died unexpectedly on Wed. November 8. He was the devoted husband of Luisa Lopez. Dr. Lopez was born on July 28, 1929 in Estancia Nueva, Moca, Dominican Republic. His parents were Nicolas Lopez and Agustina Taveras de Lopez. He studied medicine and became a pathologist in the Dominican Republic and then trained in neuropathology at Yale University.
He served as neuropathologist at the Danbury Hospital for more than 25 years. In collaboration with his uncle, Dr. Juan Manuel Taveras, he helped establish CEDIMAT, the first medical center in the Dominican Republic for advanced diagnostics and medicine, setting up and directing the department of pathology. In his leisure time, Dr. Lopez was a world traveler, an avid reader, and enjoyed most spending time with his extended family. He was beloved as a kind and gentle soul.

Besides his wife of 63 years, he leaves three children: Ana Luisa Lopez of Philadelphia PA, Dr. Maria Victoria Lopez-Bresnahan and her husband, Dr. Michael Bresnahan, of Lincoln, MA and Victor Francis Lopez and wife, Lourdes Lopez of New York, NY. He leaves his brother, Dr. Jose Lopez of Freehold, NJ and two sisters, Rosa Maria Salcedo of Puerto Plata, D.R. and Raquel Lopez of Santo Domingo, D.R. Dr. Lopez had three treasured granddaughters, Victoria Bresnahan of New York, NY, Andrea Bresnahan of Lincoln, MA and Amanda Lopez of New York, NY.
