Edward T. Matthews USCGR (Ret) of Southbury, CT, formerly of Tappan, NY died peacefully at home on Friday, December 8, 2017. Born April 6, 1928 to Thomas and Anne (Murphy) Matthews in Girardville, PA. Beloved Husband of Patricia (Clark) for 62 years. Devoted Father of Megan Cadelina (David) and Terence (Julie). Loving Grandfather of Will, Alexander, Caroline Cadelina and Charlotte and Kevin Matthews. Graduated from All Hallows High School, Bronx, NY and Fordham University. Retired after 32 years from McGraw-Hill Book Co. and after 36 years as a Commander from the U.S. Coast Guard.
Reposing at Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main St. North, Southbury, CT, Tuesday, December 12, 2-4 PM & 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rose of Lima, 46 Church Hill Rd., Newtown, CT (exit 10 off Rte. 84) on Wednesday, December 13 at 10 AM. Burial with Military Honors – Military Cemetery, Middletown, CT.
