Obituary: Eugene Capobianco, 87, of Southbury

He won awards for his work restoring a 1929 Buick and was always happy to lend a helping hand to family and friends in any way he could.

SOUTHBURY - Eugene Capobianco, 87, departed this life peacefully at home December 26, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of M. Ellen (Hicock) Capobianco for sixty-two years.

Eugene was born in Waterbury on January 9, 1931 to the late Louis and Rose (Cirielo) Capobianco.
He was a proud veteran of the US Navy having served from 1951 to 1955. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal. He had served aboard the USS Bushnell. Gene was always busy with projects and enjoyed working on cars.

He won awards for his work restoring a 1929 Buick and was always happy to lend a helping hand to family and friends in any way he could. His greatest joy was his family, and along with Ellen he was a devoted supporter of his grandchildren in all of their musical and athletic events.

In addition to his wife, Eugene is survived by his daughter Leah Alibozek and her husband Larry of New Hartford; his sister, Rosalyn Gualtieri of Waterbury; his grandchildren: Luke Alibozek and his wife Kristen of Granby and Lauren Alibozek of Hartford; and great grandchildren: Ella and Teddy; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 29th at 11:00 AM at Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street South, Southbury. Friends may call upon the family from 10:00 - 11:00 AM.
