James J. Russell of Southbury, CT died at Waterbury Hospital on October 15, 2016, after a short illness. He was the husband of Helen Flynn Russell. Mr. Russell was born on February 3, 1925, in Norwalk, CT, the son of George F. and Louise Radman Russell.

Besides his wife of 67 years he is survived by four children: John M. (Ellen) Russell, of Trumbull; Mrs. James (Cynthia) Sturges, of Roxbury; Mrs. William (Alison) Brotherton, of Danvers, MA and Mrs. Paul (Mary Ellen) Hill of Newtown. He also left three grandchildren.

A former resident of Punta Gorda, FL, Mr. Russell was a veteran of World War II, US Army, Tenth Mountain Division.
