Obituary: Joseph R. Hine, 67, of Southbury

He started working for the Town of Southbury in 1980, retiring as assistant road foreman in 2014.

Southbury – Joseph R. Hine, 67, died Sunday, March 12th in Regional Hospice in Danbury. He was the husband of Donna (Iskra) Hine. Joe was born March 20, 1949 in Waterbury, son of the late James and Helen (Kiely) Hine.

He worked at Hine Bros. for many years, and for a time drove for Baskin Robbins. He started working for the Town of Southbury in 1980, retiring as assistant road foreman in 2014. He had been active in Southbury youth sports and boy scouts with his four children as they grew.

He loved riding his motorcycle, taking in the sights. Joe is survived by his wife, Donna, of Southbury; his sons, Joey and wife, Brenda, and Jeff and wife, Lisa, all of Southbury, and Michael of Hamden; his sister, Nonie Diebold and husband, Dudley, of Roxbury; 5 grandchildren, Tyler, Dustin, Kiely, Timmy and Molly, all of Southbury and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was pre-deceased by his parents, his son, James II and his brother, John. He also leaves his faithful companions Lola and Otto. In keeping with his wishes, no services will be held and private burial will be at the convenience of his family. Arrangements by Carpino Funeral Home, Southbury. The family would like to thank all Joe’s caregivers.
