Obituary: Katherine Marie Colgan, 93, of Southbury

Katherine Marie Colgan, 93, passed on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 in Bethel, CT, following a long illness, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born in Limestone, Maine on June 8, 1925. She was the daughter of Earl Sylvester and Amanda Matilda (Hendricksen) Fitzsimmons.

Mrs. Colgan had been a resident of Newtown and Southbury, CT for many years and was a retired psychiatric nurse from Fairfield Hills Hospital in Newtown, CT.

She is survived by two sons, Joseph Barkasy and Fred Colgan both of Southbury, CT, and one grandson Christopher Barkasy of Fairfield, CT and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Colgan was predeceased by her daughter Mrs. Patricia Myers of Branford, CT, as well as five brothers; James, Floyd, Herbert, Ervin and Harold and six sisters; Beatrice (Whipple), Margaret (Morrell), Evelyn (Brown), Gretchen (McGinn), Ida Mae (Walters, Willis) and Donna (Brown).
Mrs. Colgan was the last of the surviving child of the Fitzsimmons Family.

Friends will gather at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main St. North, on Sunday January 6 from 2:00 to 4:00P.M.
