Obituary: Kristyne G. Phelan, 90, of Southbury

Kristyne G. Phelan, 90, formerly of Heritage Village, Southbury died Tuesday, Nov. 15th in Danbury Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joseph F. Phelan. Mrs. Phelan was born May 19, 1926, in Boston, MA, daughter of the late John F. and Myrtle (Brown) Griffin.

She had worked as an administrative assistant at QSP, a division of Reader’s Digest. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who received her greatest joy from being with her family. She leaves her four children: John Phelan of Salem, MA, Eileen Yee and her husband, Ed, of Somers, NY, Jacqueline Phelan of New Rochelle, NY and Suzanne Whalen and her husband, James, of South Salem, NY, with whom she most recently lived.

Also 8 grandchildren: Casey Rose, Timothy Conner, Griffin Phelan, Holbrook Phelan, Courtney Ruggiero, Caitlin DeBetta James Whalen and Brianna Whalen, and 6 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 19th at 11:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main Street South, Southbury. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Southbury. Calling hours: Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street South, Southbury.
