Obituary: Ladislav John Junas, 94, of Southbury

He was an accomplished Olympic fencer and loved to sail.

Ladislav John Junas, a 35 year resident of Southbury passed away peacefully on June 6th at the age of 94. L. John was born in NYC, attended Stuyvesant HS, and graduated from NYU with a Masters in Mechanical Engineering in 1955.

During WWII he was a machinist’s mate in the US Navy working on ships and submarines in the North Atlantic.

He was an accomplished Olympic fencer and loved to sail. He was a partner of the Norman Bragar Company of Newark, NJ where he worked as an electrical engineer and frequently traveled in Africa, Asia and Latin America, as well as throughout New England. L. John is survived by four children, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
