Obituary: Margaret E. Tomey, 92, of Southbury

Southbury- Margaret E. Tomey, 92, died peacefully Saturday, October 29th. She was the wife of the late Joseph A. Tomey. Peggy was born March 7, 1924, in Brewster, NY, a daughter of the late Frank and Catherine (Welch) Haigh.
She spent many years working along side her loving and devoted husband, Joe, at the Southbury Food Center.

She was a long-time parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, a member of the Columbiettes, and had volunteered at the Southbury Training School Thrift Shop for several years.
She enjoyed living at Grace Meadows and attending the Southbury Senior Center, where she enthusiastically played bingo and knitted with her friends.

She will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit. She is survived by her loving children: Rod Tomey and his wife, Sue, of Shelton and Kathy Petruzzi and her husband, Vinny, of Maple Grove, MN; her sister, Marion Otto of Carthage, TN; her five grandchildren, Dr. Michael Tomey, Mark Tomey, Kristen Philip, David Petruzzi and Nick Petruzzi; and 7 great-grandchildren: Jake, Schuyler, Carson, Ryan and Camryn Tomey and Collin and Benjamin Philip. She is predeceased by her sisters, Wanda Ledley, Fran Chamoures and Helen Cameron. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wed. Nov. 2nd at 11:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main Street South, Southbury. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, Southbury.
Calling hours: Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. in the chapel of Sacred Heart Church. Arrangments by Carpino Funeral Home, Southbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Columbiettes, c/o Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main Street South, Southbury 06488
