Obituary: Margaret Kiehn Berkery

Margaret Kiehn Berkery of Southbury, CT died at Masonicare of Newtown on Sunday, November 13, 2011 with her family at her side.

Peggy was born the daughter of Mary (Haugh) and Martin Lynch in the Bronx, NY on February 14, 1930. She was the eldest of three children who enjoyed their childhood with their extended Irish family. On July 29, 1950, Peggy married Harold Kiehn and they raised their family of four children in Parkchester and East Northport, NY. 

Harold Kiehn predeceased Peggy in 1978 and she married Eugene Berkery on March 30, 1985. They enjoyed life together on Long Island and in Southbury, CT with their blended family until Gene passed away in 2002.

Peggy was happiest when spending time with her family. She is survived by her brother Martin (Catherine) Lynch and their family; her sister Sr. Mary Jo Lynch; her children Carol (Terry) Kirkey, Richard (Margery) Kiehn, Janet Kiehn, David (Debra) Kiehn; her stepchildren Betty (Alan) Davies, Eugene (Kate) Berkery, Lauretta (Scott) Dustin, Peter (Catherine) Berkery; her grandchildren Kathryn and Matthew Boulette, Brady McSheffrey, Jeanne (Marc) Radawich, Beth (David) Rich, Kate Fahey, Patric, Eugene, and Nicole Berkery, Jennifer Dustin, Liz and Owen Berkery; and by her great-grandchild Eli Rich.

Visitation:  Calling hours will be held at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main Street North, on Tuesday, November 15, from 2 – 4 p.m. and from 6 – 8 p.m.

Services:  Funeral services will be conducted at Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main Street South, in Southbury on Wednesday, November 16, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Southbury
