Southbury - Russell E Miller, 76, of Southbury, died peacefully Thursday December 29, 2016 after a brief illness. Russell was born August 28, 1940 in Woodbury, CT, the son of the late David and Margaret Miller.
A longtime resident of Southbury, he worked for many years at The Waterbury Republican American in Waterbury, CT. and expanded his business experience to develop the “Heritage News Service” into a great success.

Russell leaves behind 4 daughters from his first marriage of 37 years to Michelle Yuchnyk Miller: Donna Metcalf of Piermont, NY, Melanie D’Elia and her husband Teodoro of Southbury, Monica Morais and her husband Paul of Washingtonville, NY and Sonya Fleming and her husband William of Southbury.
Besides his wife , Joan Somers Miller, of 19 years, he also leaves behind 2 sisters, Gail Daddona and her husband Jack of Oakville, Nancy Benson of South Carolina. 8 grandchildren: Chelsea and Tyler Metcalf, Kyle Molnar, Nicholas, Paul, and Laurielle Morais, and Trevor and Ryan Fleming.

He also leaves behind his nephew Ronald Pleasant and his wife Suzanne of Watertown. and many other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Michelle Yuchnyk Miller and eldest sister Judy Pleasant of Vermont . He loved animals of all kinds and was known to feed the wild turkeys , raccoons and birds in his backyard.
He also was a devoted fan of watching his 4 daughters play sports and the UCONN girls basketball team. He loved the outdoors and spent most summers in Cape Cod and Vermont while raising his family. Russell was a dedicated hard working family man loved by many for his tenacious personality.
