Obituary: Ruth Vivian Sternberg, 95, of Southbury
She was her husband's greatest asset and he cherished her for it.

On December 21, 2016, Ruth Vivian Sternberg succumbed to complications from a stroke. She passed peacefully at Waterbury Hospital where she had received compassionate care from the hospital nursing staff; VITAS hospice and staff from The Hearth in Southbury, CT.
Mrs. Sternberg was predeceased by her beloved husband of sixty-seven years, Gene Howard Sternberg, Sr. in 2009. Ruth and Gene often commented it would be best if they went together in a common disaster as neither could imagine being without the other. Family members are finding comfort in the knowledge that they are together again.

Mrs. Sternberg was born Ruth Vivian Roseman on November 1, 1921 in Granite City, Illinois to Arthur David Roseman and Nelle Bolling Roseman.
Following high school, Ruth attended Brown’s Business College in St. Louis, Missouri. Having been raised in a home where a love for music was encouraged, Ruth would later serve on the board of Southern Illinois University’s Friends of Music where she organized and conducted regional auditions for The New York Metropolitan Opera.

As a woman of her generation, she helped her husband further his civic pursuits, as well as his business relationships. She was her husband’s greatest asset and he cherished her for it.
Mrs. Sternberg is survived by her son, Gene Howard Sternberg, Jr. of Fredonia, AZ; her daughter, Nancy Sternberg Huebner and her husband Dr. Dennis L. Huebner of Woodbury, CT; her sister Laura Danes and her husband Robert Danes of Woodland Hills, CA; her granddaughter Ellen Huebner Qureshi, her husband Allan Qureshi and their children Alia & Dennis; her grandson Dr.Christopher Yarter, his wife Kristina and their three sons; and her grandson Clayton Sternberg, his wife Christina and their girls, Lucy, Hannah & Piper Jane.
Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home of Woodbury was entrusted with the local arrangements. All funeral services and burial will be held in Illinois.
