SOUTHBURY - Steven J. Thurlow, 56, departed this life on August 23, 2018 at Danbury Hospital after a difficult struggle with Frontotemporal Dementia.
Steven was born in Waterbury on May 5, 1962 to Frances Thurlow and the late Richard Thurlow Sr.
Full of life with a great sense of humor, Steve loved welcoming friends and family on Bantam Lake in the summer, taking them on boat rides, spoiling guests with fine food and always cracking jokes. He was passionate about classic cars and was known around Connecticut for his collection. He coached Woodbury youth soccer and enjoyed scuba diving.

He was an avid collector of sports memorabilia. Prior to his illness, he was a talented drywall contractor who owned DunRite Drywall in partnership with his wife for many years. Steve's diagnosis of Frontotemporal Dementia led to some challenging times. It is a disease that sometimes caused him to interact with others in a way that was contrary to his loving nature. He would want friends and colleagues to know that he never intended any hurt to anyone.
In addition to his mother, Steven is survived by his children: Daniel Thurlow (and Chelsea) of West Hartford, Meghan Thurlow of San Diego, and Dylan Thurlow of Morris; his three siblings: Margaret Griffin (and Barry) of Southbury, Lynne Wilson of Southbury, Richard (and Barbara) of Southbury; former spouse of many years Anne Thurlow and several nieces and nephews.
