Obituary: Teresa I. LoGiurato, 92, of Southbury

Southbury – Teresa I. LoGiurato passed away peacefully on January 12, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was a 32 year resident of Southbury, CT after moving from Long Island in 1985. Teresa was born November 1, 1925 in Astoria, NY, the daughter of the late Bridget and Terrence McGowan. She was one of nine children.

Teresa married Albert LoGiurato on November 16, 1945, who predeceased her in August 2015. They enjoyed 70 years together raising their four children in New Hyde Park, NY. where they developed many long term friendships. Over the years they enjoyed weekends entertaining family and friends at their vacation house on Lake Wallenpaupack .

She was very proud that she assisted her husband in building this home . She balanced a career as an office manager in Lake Success, NY, while being a loving homemaker. When she retired, she and Al enjoyed extensive traveling and spent winters at Hilton Head Island, SC. Teresa loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was known for her sweet, warm disposition and her Irish wit. She’ll be greatly missed by her family, and all those who loved and laughed with her.

She is survived by herdaughter Linda and husband Andy Yglesias of Manchester NJ; son Philip and wife Marty LoGiurato of Brookfield, CT and son Terrence and wife Linda LoGiurato of Salt Point, NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren Daniel, Brendan and Brett LoGiurato; Ryan, and Teddy Flanders; Vinnie, Ricky, Cory and Miki Yglesias.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Albert LoGiurato and siblings Terrence, Francis, Joseph, John, Catherine, Mary, Eugene, and Gerard. The family wishes to thank the warm and loving caregivers (her angels) : Rebecca, Leslie, Giuseppina, Shaquava and especially her “sidekick” Brenda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, January 16, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 146 Main Street South, Woodbury. Burial will follow in New North Cemetery, Woodbury. Calling hours: Monday, January 15th from 4 to 8 p.m. at Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street South, Southbury.
