Paper Will Cost You an Extra $5 for Southbury Recreational Programs
Officials hope people sign up early and via a credit card for recreational programs.

The early bird catches the worm, and in Soutbbury when it comes to Parks and Recreation activities, you’ll save $5 if you pay online via a credit card.
According to meeting minutes from the Park and Recreation Commission, people will be charged a $5 administrative fee on all paper applications for all Park and Recreation activities.
During the meeting there was a discussion about offering a $5 online discount but that was tabled for now.

Interim Parks and Recreation Director, Charlie Rosa proposed discounting those who pay online a $5 discount to encourage patron use of credit cards and also offer a $5 discount for those who sign up early, according to meeting minutes.

The latter would be beneficial in determining if a program will be running or not, as people are tending to sign up the day before or on the day a program is scheduled to start and the instructor has already cancelled the program
due to a lack of enrollment or a low enrollment, meeting minutes state.
It was brought up that the Recreation Department does offer an early bird discount for its pool membership and camp registration and perhaps doing email blasts, newspaper articles and other means of communication to get the word out would be a better avenue to follow at this point before considering of additional discounts, meeting minutes state.
