Peace of Light From Bethlehem distributed at Sacred Heart Church
Sacred Heart Church distributes a candle infused with the flame from Bethlehem to symbolize spreading peace.

After Masses on December 16th and 17th, Sacred Heart will be the sharing of the Peace Light from Bethlehem. For over a thousand years, lamps have been continuously lit in the Grotto of the Nativity in Bethlehem. Since 2000, a Boy Scout from Austria has lit two lanterns from the Grotto, which are transported to Vienna, where the living flame is distributed to European Scouts for transport to Europe. Austrian airlines then transports the lanterns to New York, where it is met there by Scouts from Our Lady of the Skies Chapel, from which it is spread out across North America to share the Peace Light to all who wish to receive it during Christmas time, in the spirit of Peace on Earth. We have the Peace Light here at Sacred Heart after all Masses on the weekend of December 16- 17. Please come and share it in the Atrium after the final Blessing. You will be given a candle and please spread it: to friends, to family, anyone at any place, and to spread the Message of Peace.
