Referendum Date Set For Region 15 Budget Proposal

The proposed spending plan does call for an increase in spending.

SOUTHBURY/MIDDLEBURY, CT — A referendum has been scheduled for May 8 on the Region 15 Board of Education's $70.8 million proposed budget for fiscal 2019-20, which increases spending by about 2.5 percent, the Republican-American reports.

New Schools Superintendent Joshua Smith received high-marks from the school board for the budget's transparency. Board members said they were pleased that the budget preserved class sizes while also expanding class offerings and the inclusion of technology in the district, according to the Rep-Am.
